On my second shoot for Floyd, I headed out to Joshua Tree to shoot in a 1949 hacienda.
I photographed the women from Everybody for The Journal of Alta California. The shoot involved traveling with them from their studio to suppliers and manufacturers in Los Angeles. Lots of fun!
Mohawk General Store opened a new outpost in the wilds of Santa Monica, and Monocle sent me there on opening day to photograph the store, owner Kevin Carney, and some of Kevin’s favorite things. He was a dream to work with, laid back and full of ideas, and a great model, too! Here are some outtakes that I love. I’d never photographed fashion before, but this made me want to try more!
FT Weekend sent me to Adelanto, California, 90 miles east of Los Angeles, to photograph the booming medical marijuana industry and its effects on this desert town. They asked me to photograph whatever caught my eye in Adelanto, and then meet with and photograph Mayor Richard Kerr and a new medical marijuana facility. Really fun assignment.
I photographed the Floyd Platform Bed in R.M. Schindler’s Lechner House. While I was there, I also got the chance to photograph throughout the home. I’ve seen and photographed some beautiful houses in Los Angeles, but this one is my favorite.
I had an incredible time photographing in the Capitol Records Building for Monocle recently. They took me into the recording studios, showed me the archives, let me see Frank Sinatra’s microphone. . . . And getting to stand on the top floor of the building and look out at my neighborhood, after having walked by the building hundreds of times, was a real thrill. I took way more photos than they were able to run. More of my photos below. (P.S. The photo in the tear sheet of the exterior of the building is not mine.)
I photographed a team of people at Bartle Bogle Hegarty in West Hollywood for Monocle.
I photographed Aesop’s new Aromatique Room Sprays in two historic homes in Los Angeles: the Neutra VDL House in Silver Lake and the Schindler House in West Hollywood.
I photographed Laura Vassar Brock and Kris Brock of the Brock Collection at their studio in L.A.’s Fashion District for an article in the August 2017 issue of Surface. The magazine asked me to shoot the entire story on the iPhone 7, a fun change of pace. Took a little while to feel like I was actually taking pictures. More photos below.
