We Can’t Paint
Noel Rodo-Vankeulen created We Can’t Paint as a blog in December 2007 and has just launched it as a full-on network, comprised of a blog, a projects gallery, and a magazine called Wassenaar. Featured in the first issue of the magazine are, among others, my friends Julia Baum (in a solo show), and Elizabeth Fleming and Justin James Reed (in a group show). Plus, there’s an interview with photographer Lina Scheynius conducted by Johanna Reed, who was my partner in crime in our two-person show in Los Angeles in October 2007. And in the projects gallery, Will Steacy (whose print Cheerleaders, New Orleans I recently bought and am completely in love with—the print, not Will, though I hear Will’s a swell guy) and my absolute favorite photo gal pal in the Northern Hemisphere (Lane, you’ve got the Southern covered), Miss Jennifer Loeber, whose work I love almost as much I love her.
If the election has you completely unable to think straight and you’ve started dreaming about CNN anchors the way I have, I highly recommend taking a breather and stepping over to the world Noel hath wrought. It’s worth your time, and that’s putting it mildly.
