New blogs
This week, I found a couple blogs I really like. I mean really like. The first is the new PhotoShelter blog, Shoot! The Blog, which is being written by Rachel Hulin. In her few short days running this blog, Rachel has made it one of my favorites in my Google Reader. She covers everything—fine art, advertising, editorial, celebrity, etc.—all with a sense of humor. And, most important from where I’m standing today, nearly everything she posts is news to me. None of that posting the same stuff everyone else posts. I can’t wait to see what else Rachel covers in the coming weeks and months!
The other blog I’ve fallen in love with this week is Kate Hutchinson’s, whose work I found through Conscientious. Her work is right up my alley, and her blog is completely inspiring to me. Why? Because she seems to be incredibly prolific, and she has fun with photography. You can tell, just by looking at her work, how much she enjoys just making photographs. After looking at the work of people who seem to take everything so seriously, themselves included, Kate is as delightful to me as the light is to her. She posts photos from her daily life, along with some words about the photos and where they were made.

I’m getting more discriminating in what I read, and I’m intentionally letting my Blogs I Read list, in the margin, evolve as I do. I’ve dropped some blogs from my feed reader, added others back, dropped others a second time. I’m starting to look at that list as a reflection of what matters to me today, not necessarily an indication of what will matter to me in the future or what mattered to me in the past. It’s a snapshot of what I’m reading right now, and I like that.
