Hey, Hot Shot! featured me!

Hey, so I was featured on the Hey, Hot Shot! blog today! (Greg Wasserstrom broke the news to me in his comment on my last post. I would’ve seen it anyway—I love checking out all the work of the HHS contenders and winners—but how cool that I got the word from such a great photographer instead.)

If you don’t know about HHS, definitely check it out—and enter your own work! It’s one of the best outlets for emerging photographers. Getting your work in front of those jurors is a big deal in and of itself, and if you win, well come on. The deadline is August 7 at 11:59 p.m. (Psst! I’ve been following the HHS blog for a while now and they seem to extend the deadline every time. No guarantees they’ll do it this time, though. All the more reason to get your stuff in early.)

P.S. When I got out of bed this morning, this was what my bed looked like. Jack did not move. He was like that nearly all night. See that tiny little strip between his head and the edge of the mattress? That’s where I spent most of the night, seriously considering getting down on the floor and onto his dog bed that I paid an arm and a leg for. Where is the justice in this? Let’s not get into the fact that the first thing I did after getting out of bed was take this picture.

I say sell off the dog bed and put the money towards a bigger regular bed with room for the both of you. Or send Jack to visit me in New Zealand! :)

Jack in New Zealand. . . . Nah, I don't think I could handle him being gone that long. Selling off the dog bed, though . . . now there's an idea. (Last night I made him sleep on the floor and he seems just fine. Must not fall for his guilt trips.)

Liz - we ARE kindred spirits - except my little cover snatcher is a 35 pound english cocker spaniel who still manages to sleep on top of my head, WHEN he is not in the geographic center of the bed, flat on his back, feathers blowing in the fan, and snoring, that is. BUT an excellent kisser. Now i've done it! i've said too much. If loving him is wrong, i don't want to be right.

congrats on your hhs mention! well-deserved.

ps take the old adage of housebuying wisdom to heart: buy yourself the biggest bed you can afford. We went queen and i'm thinking california king would have been a better option. esp if we acquire a sibling for the beast.

Susana, I'm glad to know I'm not alone in losing my bed to a mutt. I should've gotten a bigger mattress when I bought this one, but I just got it a few months ago, so I think it'll have to do for a while. It's all good, though.

Thanks for the comment on HHS, too! Somebody just asked me the other day what kind of work I'd like to be doing eventually (fine art, editorial, commercial), and I cited you as a role model because you do it all so well. You rock!
